What is the course about?

A food safety supervisor is a person who has advanced food safety skills and knowledge and the responsibility to oversee food safety operations within a food business on a day-to-day basis. Every licensed food business must have a food safety supervisor to add a level of onsite protection for food safety.

Food Safety is everyone’s responsibility. For people working in a food processing operation, it is paramount they understand food safety hazards and the controls in place to prevent any occurrence.
It is also important in any food processing operation that employees have a comprehensive knowledge of food safety requirements. This course provides an excellent steppingstone for advanced food handlers in the food processing sector to upskill and advance to a supervisory role.

Upon completion of the training, participants will:

 

  • know how to recognise, stop and reduce food safety hazards of the business
  • be trained with the skills and knowledge of food safety matters that relevant to the business
  • have the authority to supervise and give directions about food safety matters to other staff
  • be reasonably available to be contacted while the food business is operating by:
  1. any food handler at the food business
  2. the local Council that licensed the food business.


    What do I do if I need to cancel my booking?

    Please contact AUS-MEAT immediately to avoid any cancellation fees. Full payment is required no later than 5 days prior to the commencement of training. A 50% cancellation fee will apply on cancellations received less than 10 working days prior to commencement of training.
    NO refunds are given for cancellations received less than 5 working days prior to the commencement of training. Any transfers between courses will incur a $100 fee on each instance.

    English is not my first language! Will I have problems?

    All AUS-MEAT training courses are presented in English. A sound understanding of the English language is required. All workbooks and assessments are conducted in English. If required, the use of dictionaries or tablets are acceptable.

    How will you be assessed?

    During your enrolment, you will be required to complete both theory and practical assessments. These will assess your knowledge of food safety systems as well as your practical ability to follow work procedures detailed within a company’s food safety plan. The practical may be conducted in your own workplace or a simulated workplace environment. You will have 3mths to complete these and submit your Third-Party report.

    Issue of Certificates

    At the successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.
    Participants will receive the following Nationally Accredited Unit of Competency from the Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Training Package.

    Units of competencies issued:
    FBPFSY1002 – Follow work procedures to maintain food safety
    FBPFSY2002 – Apply food safety procedures


    These units sit within numerous Cert II and Cert IV qualifications including Cert II and III in Food Processing.

    No, you do not need to bring anything as this is all self-paced online learning.
